Case Studies

The client had seven QlikSense Applications for their marketing and sales dashboards. Each App consisted of 1,000+ lines of code, with many years of copy, paste and edit as well as different code for the same end result.

The client had an existing data warehouse providing 21 distinct VIEWs and TABLEs as source objects.

The end result is a semantic/business model built from layered VIEWs. The top level VIEWs each replacing one of the QlikSense App’s.

All VIEWs were generated with AltaSQL technology; no CREATE VIEW scripts were edited after generation. The repository will be provided as part of the AltaSQL shared database. You will be able to exercise all AltaSQL functionality, although you will not be able to execute the generated DDL. A video walk through is in the works.

Statistics:

• 7 top level VIEWs, ~225 rows/VIEW
• 10 lower level VIEWs, of which 6 were used multiple multiple times
• 2500+ delivered VIEW columns
• 21 distinct source object from client warehouse
• 7 source objects used multiple times in VIEWs
• 500+ column name transformations to business/natural language
• 57 business logic UDFs, 42 column expressions
